Mycology Minutes™ activities provide updates on key fungal presentations from international ID meetings. In this edition of the Minutes, Sibylle Mellinghoff reviews high-impact poster/oral presentations from the 8th Trends in Medical Mycology (TIMM) Meeting held October 6-9, 2017, in Belgrade, Serbia, as well as some top mycology papers from 2017. They address topics related to diagnostics, including MALDI-TOF, GM testing, β-D-glucan testing, fungus-specific T cells, as well as therapeutic dose monitoring, multidrug-resistant fungi, mold lung infections, and emerging therapeutics. Keeping up-to-date on emerging data on diagnostics and fungal infections is the number one unmet need we have identified among learners in previous mycology activities. Fewer clinicians are traveling to international infectious disease meetings, particularly topic-specific meetings such as TIMM. This activity will present summaries of key presentations from the 8th TIMM meeting as well as seminal papers released in the field of mycology in 2017.
